I made this rug (bottom photo) for an independent thinking granddaughter, so her face is turned away from her older siblings! As soon as Eleanor could walk, she went her own way. Each of my grands gets an oil painting of themselves, and a hooked rug as heirlooms from Grandma. Each rug has a "secret message" on the back...I draw on the words of Bob Dylan for those. This message is "If dogs run free, why not me?"
