Cape Cod | 25" x 25" | monkscloth - $44.00 | linen - $56.00
My daughter dyed and hooked this one when she was 17, at workshop with Diane Stoffel. We love the New England colours and the porthole effect!

Christmas in the Country | 31½" x 42" | monkscloth - $72.00 | linen - $89.00
This was the final design for my series of 4 pictorial rugs, each showing a different season, and featuring a different quilt border. My challenge for this was to hook it without using any red or white; both major Christmas colours. I was honoured to have it appear in Jessie Turbayne's book, and in Celebrations.
On the right is another "Christmas in the Country", wonderfully hooked by Anne Maharrey. It's always fun working with Anne; we used some of her wools and some of mine. The border colours really complement the interior!
Everytime I see "Christmas in the Country" hooked up, it is different and creative.
This version below Joanne Montgomery is no exception.

Church Supper | 29" x 42" | monkscloth - $66.00 | linen - $83.00
This is summer, in the series of quilt bordered seasonal rugs. It commemorates the church suppers I grew up working on. The heart shapes in the border are filled with faded looking wools; they represent womens worn dresses.
This Church Supper in the middle was capably hooked by Tommy Bradford. The one to the left came from Freda MacDonnell. Both ladies are dear friends and longtime hooking companions.

Ipswich Clam Diggers
14" x 14" | monkscloth - $19.00 | linen - $19.00
24" x 36" | monkscloth - $52.00 | linen - $64.00
This particular piece was very capably hooked by Betty Heath from Minnesota. We worked on this at camp in Canada. It's a very typical scene from our northeast coastal areas.

Jasmine's Butterfly Garden | 10½" x 13½" | monkscloth - $22.00 | linen - $24.00
This is our summer view of the flower garden Jasmine planted for us in the backyard when she was in high school. She chose to hook it with some creative hooking "stitches".

New England Village Runner | 24" x 72" | monkscloth - $98.00 | linen - $124.00
This could be your hometown! It comes without a border; if you wish to add one of your own design, let me know how wide of a space to leave when I print it. This has been hooked in every cut from 3 to 6.

Our Town | 36" x 49" | monkscloth - $92.00 | linen - $115.00
A pictorial with an unusual viewpoint! It's fun to hook in fall colours. Although not a wide cut design, it can be hooked wider than 3 or 4 cut in bigger areas. The "Our Town" at the top is glowing with fall foliage, hooked by Kathleen Hahn.

Rowley House | 18" x 24" | monkscloth - $29.00 | linen - $31.00
This pattern is reproduced from an old painting of a very old house. This rug has a wonderful old soft look to it.

Sandy's Village | 38" x 50" | monkscloth - $105.00 | linen - $134.00
This is "fall" from my series of seasons with quilt borders. This large pictorial has enough variation to hold your interest. The fall leaf border will frame your scene, as well as provide colour balance.
Fall colours and rich blues abound in the "Sandy's Village" to the right, by Chizuko Hayami. Nicely done!

Skater's Village | 32½" x 45" | monkscloth - $72.00 | linen - $89.00
What a wonderful wall hanging this makes...you can get as detailed as you'd like or keep it simple as this photo shows.
Mary Jane Costello, from classes here, enjoyed doing the "Skaters Village" on the left a few years ago. In the middle is one of my favourite photos of "Skaters Village," hooked by Nancy Khoury in class here, about 1980.

Snowed In | 20" x 38" | monkcloth - $52.00 | linen - $64.00
Years ago, a student brought in an ancient burlap design that was unmarked and falling apart. We tried searching for it's designer, but without any success. Several in the class were interested in hooking it, so i moved and altered its details but tried to keep the original charm. We still don't know its origins! Barbara Rossman hooked this particular one.
It is nice to get repeat students, and Anne Ray has been in my class often. Last year at Caraway, she hooked "Snowed In". Makes you want to bundle up!

Spring Cleaning | 36" x 41" | monkscloth - $77.00 | linen - $93.00
When I hooked mine, I used several swatches in the border, which I'd used in the middle scene. This gave me a range of related lights and darks. But it's also quite nice hooked with odds and ends of wools as well, as shown here.
Betty Kelly, longtime hooking friend and one of ATHA's founding mothers, completed this vibrant Spring Cleaning using up a lot of her odds and ends.

Up North | 28" x 48" | monkscloth - $66.00 | linen - $83.00
This comical scene of a fisherman missing "the big one" under his boat (not to mention the bears dancing by his tent) was beautifully hooked by Betty Fournier at a workshop in Atlanta with me.

Vermont Village | 36" x 54" | monkscloth - $92.00 | linen - $115.00
This does look like a birds eye view of a folky Vermont, with the white houses and variegated fall trees!
Carole Morgan produced the creative "Vermont Village" at the top by adding sheep, people and farm equipment. Great job, Carole!

White Kittens into Mischief | 20" x 24" | monkscloth - $52.00 | linen - $64.00
This design was included in New Earth Designs originally, and is from a Currier and Ives. My daughter, Jasmine enjoys a challenge and hooked the lower one in her early 20's with Sibyl Osicka. It's definitely a piece for an advanced student; the tablecloth alone is daunting! The top one is a a masterfully done "White Kittens."

Wishing Well | 6" x 8" | monkscloth - $14.00 | linen - $15.00
I taught this tiny, but detailed little pictorial at Blue Ridge Camp many years ago, for a mini class. Anne Ray was in the class and completed it beautifully.
